Summer Recreation Enrichment Instructor

The City of Peoria seeks to hire a Summer Recreation Enrichment Instructor in the Neighbor & Human Services Youth Program division to provide quality classes for children 6-14 years old. In addition, this position will plan, organize, and implement activities such as cooking, DIY creations, various art mediums, crafts, sports, and active games.

The full hiring range for this position is $21.91-$27.39.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

• Ability to plan, organize, teach, and evaluate a recreation or enrichment class.
• Ability to develop detailed curriculum, class format and a supply list before the class session begins, including outlines and detailed lesson plans.
• Strong communication skills and knowledge of teaching methods and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and recreation staff.
• Ability to attend training meetings, as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience: Any combination of experience, training, and certification which provides the ability to effectively teach an enrichment or recreation class is required. In addition, 1-2+ years of previous teaching, coaching and/or childcare experience is required.
• Education: No minimum education requirement.
• Certification/License/Other Requirement:

1. CCC/AED certification is required within two months of hire.
2. Two personal references and two former employer references are required, upon hire.
3. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:

• Valid AZ Driver's License is preferred and reliable transportation.
